We all are guilty of this: watching ESPN and staring in awe of the things that collegiate and professional basketball players are able to do. It is easy to lose sight of how athletes are able to perform at such a high level. We walk into a gym and start working on complex moves and three-point shots, but we are missing out on opportunities to build a base with the fundamentals of the game. Things such as dribbling with our hips low and our eyes up, having the proper shooting form, or making the right kind of pass at the right time have become secondary thoughts for many of us. As an athlete, especially a basketball player, you are never too young or too old to work on the core fundamentals that allow you to be the dynamic player you aspire to be.

Take a look at a simple, yet essential, drill to improve your ball handling and hand-eye coordination from our friends at Basketball HQ. Working on the basics now will help you expand your abilities and improve your performance on the court.
