The 2016 class will be the first group affected by new, more stringent NCAA initial eligibility requirements.  With a goal of making sure that its future student-athletes are more prepared for college and that they have a better chance to obtain their degree, the NCAA has put in place the following changes for future Division I prospects.

  1. Complete 16 Core Courses
    • 4 in English
    • 3 in Math
    • 2 in Science
    • 2 in Social Science
    • 1 additional in English, Math or Science
    • 4 additional in those listed above or Foreign Language, Philosophy or Religion
  2. 10 of the Core Courses must be completed before the start of a student-athlete’s senior year and those grades are “locked in” for the purpose of GPA calculation.
  3. Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.30 in the 16 core courses to go along with a qualifying SAT or ACT score according to the NCAA’s Sliding Scale.
